Adam Exner

Adam Joseph Exner, OMI ( born December 24, 1928 in Killaly ) is Archbishop Emeritus of Vancouver.

Life

Daniel Alphonse Omer Verstraete joined the Congregation of the Oblates Hünfelder and received on 7 July 1957, the ordination. Paul VI. appointed him on 16 January 1974 Bishop of Kamloops and was introduced to the post on 28 March of the same year.

The Archbishop of Grouard - McLennan Henri Légaré, OMI consecrated him on 12 March of the same year the bishop; Co-consecrators were James Francis Carney, Archbishop of Vancouver and Charles Aimé Halpin, Archbishop of Regina.

On 31 March 1982 he was appointed Archbishop of Winnipeg and introduced into the office on 23 June of the same year. On May 25, 1991, he was appointed Archbishop of Vancouver. On January 10, 2004 Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation due to age.
