Adam Krieger

Adam Krieger ( born January 7, 1634 Driesen, † June 30, 1666 in Dresden ) was a German composer and church musician.

Life

His training warriors received first at Samuel Scheidt in hall and sat this from 1650 continued in Leipzig. In 1655 he won against competitors Werner Fabricius in filling the position of organist at Leipzig's St. Nicholas Church, which was released by Johann Muller's sudden departure of Rose. The focus of his work put Warriors in figural music. On the foundation of a warrior Collegium Musicum goes back to Leipzig. In 1657, Elector Johann Georg II called him to the Saxon court. There were warriors of the daughter of the Elector lessons at the clavichord. 1658 he was appointed court organist.

Warriors died in 1666 in Dresden and was buried in the churchyard woman.

Work

Warriors composed and wrote numerous songs, 1657 he published his first collection of songs. Hallmark of his works were simple folk- melodies. His most famous song is Now the day has ended, it can be found in the hymnals of Protestant churches. Another well-known song is The Rhein'sche wine, that describes the various effects of enjoyment of Rhine wine.
