Adam Larsson

Adam Larsson (born 12 November 1992 Skellefteå ) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player who plays since 2011 with the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League on the position of the defender. His father Robert has played from 1985 to 1995 at his home club Skellefteå AIK, his older brother Hampus is professional hockey player in IF Björklöven.

Career

Adam Larsson began his career in the youth divisions of his home club Skellefteå AIK. In the 2008 /09 season he played his first game for Skelleftea in Sweden's highest division Elitserien. In the following season he was a regular for the first team to use and became a regular player. When KHL Junior Draft 2010 of the defenders of Lokomotiv Yaroslavl was selected in the first round at 17th overall position, however, Larsson decided to continue to go for Skellefteå on the ice.

NHL Entry Draft 2011 Larsson was selected in the first round to fourth position overall by the New Jersey Devils. On 15 July 2011 Larsson signed a three-year entry-level contract with the New Jersey Devils. The defensive player recommended in the pre-season for the NHL squad of Devils and came in the season 2011/12 in 65 games available for use.

Internationally

Larsson represented the Swedish national team for the first time at an international tournament at the U18 World Youth Championship in 2009. During the U18 Junior World Cup 2010 the defender was voted the best defender of the tournament, also won the Swedes after a final defeat by the U.S. National the silver medal. In the U20 World Youth Championship in the same year Larsson won the bronze medal. The players also took part in the U20 World Youth Championship in 2011, a medal position, however, was missed.
