Adam Taubitz

Adam Taubitz ( born October 7, 1967 in Chorzów, Upper Silesia ) is a German violinist, trumpeter, guitarist and composer of classical music and jazz.

Life and work

At the age of five years Taubitz received his first violin lessons from his father. At age eleven, he made his debut as a soloist with the Silesian Philharmonic and later continued his studies in Freiburg, Germany with Wolfgang Marschner continued. Taubitz was a prizewinner of numerous competitions such as Tibor Varga, Sion; Nicolo Paganini, Genoa or the Ludwig Spohr Competition in Freiburg. He became first concertmaster of the Basel Symphony Orchestra under Nello Santi 1989. In 1992 he became artistic director of the Chamber Symphony and Basel to 1994-1996, the Camerata de Sa Nostra in Palma de Mallorca.

From 1997 he was engaged as first section leader of the second violins at the Berlin Philharmonic under Claudio Abbado. His musical curiosity led him as a young boy in different musical directions, jazz always came first. For this reason, he taught himself trumpet. In 1999 he founded The Berlin Philharmonic Jazz Group, with which he appears as a violinist and trumpeter throughout Europe and Japan. He is also a permanent member of the Absolute Ensemble New York City under Kristjan Järvi and violinist of the Aura Quartet Basel.

Taubitz made ​​numerous recordings both as a classical soloist, as well as a jazz musician, and played with Kirk Lightsey, Philip Catherine, Roman Dylag, Daniel Schnyder, Marcin Grochowina, Daniel Pezzotti, Andy Scherrer, Emmanuel Pahud, Makaya Ntshoko, Heiner Althaus, Thomas Hampson, Ole Edvard Antonsen, Dieter Hallervorden, Ronnie Milsap, Don Moye Famoudou, Thomas Quasthoff and Nigel Kennedy. Since 2004 Taubitz published his music at the record companies EMI and Enja.

He currently lives and works as a freelance musician in Switzerland.
