Adama Dieng

Adama Dieng ( May 22nd, 1950 in Senegal ) is a former board member of the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance and a former representative of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda ( ICTR).

Career

Adama Dieng studied law at the University of Dakar ( CFPA ) and International Law at the Research Institute of the Academy of International Law in The Hague. He began his career in Senegal, where he held various positions before he joined the staff of the Constitutional Court and Senegal, 1976-1982, personal assistant to the presiding judge. From 1982 to 1989 he was a representative for Africa of the International Commission of Jurists, 1989-1990 whose CEO and Secretary General held in October 1990 bis May 2000. UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan appointed him in January 2001 regarding the representative of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda. He has worked as a consultant for several international organizations, including the UNITAR, the Organization of African Unity, the Ford Foundation, UNESCO, the "Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie ", the United Nations and the Red Cross. Dieng is a council member of the " Observatoire de la Démocratie Panafricain ," a member of the "Africa Leadership Forum " and a board member of the International Institute of Human Rights.
