Adamantios Androutsopoulos

Adamantios Androutsopoulos (Greek Αδαμάντιος Ανδρουτσόπουλος, born 1919 in Psari, Messinia, † 10 November 2000) was a Greek politician and former Prime Minister.

He graduated in law at the University of Athens and in 1959 at the Hutchins College of the University of Chicago. Later he worked as a lawyer and as a law professor.

During the period of military dictatorship under Colonel Georgios Papadopoulos, he initially from 1967 to 1971 Minister of Finance and then Minister of the Interior. On 10 May 1973 he was released by Papadopoulos as interior minister.

After the overthrow of Papadopoulos by Brigadier Dimitrios Ioannides on 25 November 1973, he followed the acting only since October 8, Prime Minister Spyros Markezinis. In his reigning until July 23, 1974 cabinet he took over at the same time the offices of the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Coordination. Shortly after the beginning caused by the coup of Greek soldiers on Cyprus on July 15, 1973 Cyprus conflict, the military dictatorship collapsed. After the subsequent return to democracy, he retired from politics.
