Adams County (Illinois)

The Adams County is a county located in the U.S. state of Illinois. In 2010, the County had 67 103 inhabitants and a population density of 30.2 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Quincy.

Geography

The County is located in the extreme west of Illinois on the east bank of the Mississippi River, which forms the border with the neighboring state of Missouri here. History

The Adams County was established on January 13, 1825 former parts of Pike County.

It was named after John Quincy Adams (1767-1848), the sixth President of the United States ( 1825-1829 ).

The first meeting of the county court was held on 4 July of the same year.
