Adams County (Washington)
Adams County is a county located in the state of Washington of the United States. It was named after the second president John Adams. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Ritzville, the largest town is Othello.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau ( U.S. Census Bureau), the County has a total area of 4998 square kilometers, of which 12 square kilometers (0.25 %) are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the counties: Lincoln, Whitman, Franklin, and Grant.

According to the census in 2000, lived in Adams County 16,428 people in 5,229 households and 4,094 families. The population density was 3 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 64.96 percent White, 0.28 percent African American, 0.68 percent Native American, 0.60 percent Asian, 0.04 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander and 30.69 percent from other races groups; 2.75 percent were descended from two or more races. 16.3 percent of the population were of German ancestry, and 1.2 percent reported speaking German as their mother tongue.
Of the 5,229 households, 44.0 percent had children under the age of 18 living with them. 63.5 percent were married couples living together, 10.1 percent were single mothers. 21.7 percent were non-families, 18.7 percent of all households and 7.7 percent of households had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 3.08 and the average family size was 3.52 persons.
34.2 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 9.8 percent between 18 to 24, 26.3 percent between 25 and 44, 19.4 percent between 45 and 64 and 10.5 percent were 65 years or older. The average age was 30 years. For every 100 females 104.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102.1 males.
The median income for a household was $ 33,888, and the median income for a family was $ 37,075. Males had a median income of $ 28,740 versus $ 21,597 for females. The per capita income was $ 13,534. 13.6 percent of families and 18.2 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
