Adams, Ilocos Norte

Adams is a small municipality in the Philippine province of Ilocos Norte.

The vast majority of Adams is wooded and very hilly. Adams is not divided as other municipalities in the Philippines in several barangays, but includes only a few small mountain villages, namely Bucarot, Siwet, Kabacan, Budabid, Sinidangan, Gubgubeng, Lipay and Maligligay.

Geography

Adams is about 114 km from Laog City in the northeast of the province of Ilocos Norte on the edge of the Philippine Cordilleras

The municipality borders on Pagudpud in the west, by the province of Cagayan in the north, the province of Apayao to the east and to the municipality Dumalneg in the West.

The climate in the area of Adams is characterized by a very long rain and a short dry season, in contrast to the rest of the province and because of the high position by relatively low temperatures.

The majority of the land area of ​​138.25 km ² is used as pasture or are wooded part tight, only 3.6 % of the area is arable land or cultivated.

In the south of the capital flows a river.

History

Before 1918 the area was a reservation for ethnic minorities.

Later, a Gemeindedisktrikt under the administration of the municipality of Bangui was formed in the 1950s, Adams was annexed to the new municipality of Pagudpud. On May 16, 1983 Adams became an independent municipality.

Economy

Adams is not electrified, so often kerosene lamps are used for illumination.
