Adast

Adast is a small French village with 261 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Hautes -Pyrénées in the Midi-Pyrénées region. Administratively, it is assigned to the district Argelès -Gazost and the eponymous canton of Argelès -Gazost.

Geography

The municipality is located in the Pyrenees, in the historical county of Bigorre, 14 kilometers south of Lourdes, at the orographic left bank of the river Gave de Pau. Neighboring communities of Adast are: Saint- Savin in the northwest, Beaucens in the east, Pierre -Nestalas in the south and Uz in the southwest. The municipality covers 105 hectares, the average altitude is 488 meters above sea level, the Mairie stands at a height of 450 meters.

Adast is part of the Roman Catholic parish of Saint- Savin of Diocese of Tarbes and Lourdes. The church of Saint - Barthélémy was built in the 12th century.
