Addai II Giwargis

Mar Addai II, Syriac -Aramaic: ܡ ܪ ܝ ܐ ܕ ܝ Shleemin Gheevargese, ( born August 1, 1950 under prior information earlier) is the current Catholicos - Patriarch of the "Old Apostolic and Catholic Church of the East ".

He is a member of the tribe of sub - Tyari without inheritable episcopate. He was ordained a priest on 21 September and on 22 September, the first of his tribe to the bishop and Metropolitan of Baghdad by Mar Thomas Darmo on 15 September 1968 on the deacon. As such, he participated in the appointment of Darmo to counter Patriarch of Mar Shimun XXIII .. After Darmos death (7 September 1969) he was elected in February 1970 five bishops to succeed. He was ordained patriarchs, with politically -related delay, on 20 February 1972.

To his jurisdiction include four dioceses in the Middle East and three in Europe, North America and Australia with a total estimated 100,000 believers.

In Mar Dinkha IV, he has a counter patriarchs in the USA.
