Addison G. Foster

Addison Gardner Foster ( born January 28, 1837 in Belchertown, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, † January 16, 1917 in Tacoma, Washington ) was an American politician ( Republican Party ), the 1899-1905 Washington State in the U.S. Senate represented.

Early years

His family moved to his birth to Oswego in Kendall County, Illinois, where he attended the public schools. Later, Foster moved to Wabasha County, Minnesota, where he pursued cereal and real estate transactions. He also worked there as an auditor and surveyor. Then he moved in 1873 to Saint Paul and 1888 to Tacoma, where he worked on each wooden shops. In addition, he engaged in Tacoma in coal mining and the construction of railways.

U.S. Senator from Washington

Foster was elected as a Republican in the U.S. Senate and was there on 4 March 1899 to 3 March 1905 at. He decided not to run for a second term. During his tenure, he was chairman of the Committee on Coast and Insular Survey ( 56th and 57th Congress ) and a member of the Committee on Geological Survey ( 58th Congress ).

After his time in the U.S. Senate he returned to his transactions wood back in Tacoma and then retired in 1914 from active business activities back. He died in Tacoma in 1917 and was subsequently buried in the local Tacoma Cemetery.
