Addison is a village in DuPage County in the northeast of the U.S. state of Illinois in the west of the Chicago metropolitan area. In the census in 2010 Addison had 36 942 inhabitants.

Geography

Addison has an area of ​​approximately 25 km ². The village is located about 20 miles west of downtown Chicago and about 23 miles west of Lake Michigan.

History

The town was founded in 1839. It was named after the writer and politician Joseph Addison ( 1672-1719 ).

The Lutheran Teachers Seminary was founded in 1864 in Addison.
