Adelsberg (hill)

The Adelberg is a 508.4 meter-high hill in the border region of Erzgebirge Ore Mountains and east of the eponymous district of Chemnitz.

Geology

The flat summit is the highest point on the southwestward extending Erzgebirgsnordrandstufe between Zschopau and Zwönitztal. The signal -rock gneiss and mica schist with phyllitischem slate coat.

View

From the observation tower offers a view to the south up to the crest regions of the Ore Mountains. In the west and north parts of the city Chemnitz Erzgebirgsbeckens and can be viewed. It also recognizes the Sternmühlental and the nearby castle Augustus castle in the east.

Touristic development

At the top is the 1886 built and 1887 completed 20 -meter-high tower Adelberg with attached guest house. The building is only a few meters in front of the hall border Chemnitz- Adelberg, but still belongs to the Kleinolbersdorf - Altenhainer hallway. The client was the landowner Hermann Theodor Haase Kleinolbersdorf. In 1968 the tower was initially not publicly available. After many owners of the restaurant business in 1995 was initially set final. After renovations, opened in the summer of 2004, the restaurant Adelberg tower again.

The Adelberg is a meeting point of several hiking trails.
