Adham Khan

Adham Khan († May 16, 1562 in Agra ) was an influential politician in the Mughal Empire.

Adham Khan was the son of Maham Anga, the wet nurse of the Mughal emperor Akbar, who had at that a close relationship. He initially worked in the administration of the empire, but soon evolved into a competitor of the general Bairam Khan, who led much of the business of government at this time. Adham Khan was involved in the capture of Mandu, the capital of the Sultanate of Malwa, but acted according to its case to the Akbar's command contrary to enslave no prisoners. In 1561, Bairam Khan was deprived of his office and had to make a pilgrimage to Mecca. When Adham Khan the Prime Minister Muhammad Shamsaddin Atga in the palace of the ruler stabbed in Agra, it pushed this on May 16, 1562 by hand from the front porch of the palace. Since he did not die in the first fall, he was thrown down again on the orders of Akbar, where he came to death.

In the campaign against the Sultanate of Malwa, he is said to have in Roopmati, the wife of Sultan Baz Bahadur, in love, but poisoned himself at the news of the defeat.
