Adidas Roteiro

Roteiro is the official match ball of the UEFA 2004 European Football Championship ( Euro 2004) in Portugal.

Properties

The design is silver gray and corresponds to FIFA regulations (eg 68.5 cm to 69.5 cm in circumference; mass 420 grams to 445 grams, 0.8 bar air pressure).

This football was first not sewn together, but thermally bonded. Therefore, it only consists of plastic ( polyurethane). Is also located opposite from the valve a small weight, which is to compensate for the imbalance.

The presented in Lisbon on 1 December 2003 Roteiro was named after the logbook of the famous Portuguese navigator and explorer Vasco da Gama. The aqua- metallic color of the ball with blue strip should still remember the sky and the sea, while fine silver lines should represent the coordinate system since Gama was used and perfected by Portuguese sailors at times.

While repeatedly optimized the material of the balls over the years, they had maxed out the traditional manufacturing technology. In this ball thus first came to the new technique of thermal bonding used in the PU panels of the ball surface are not sewn but glued. According to the manufacturer Adidas, this should lead to more stability, higher water resistance and a more consistent level of quality in production.

The flight characteristics of the Roteiro manufactured by Adidas are described very differently. Some professional football players say: "The ball is unpredictable" others claim again: "He provides more feel for the ball ."
