Adif

Administrador de Infraestructuras Ferroviarias ( ADIF, German railway infrastructure manager ) is a Spanish public corporation to operate the rail network and the stations; ADIF went on 1 January 2005 and took over the entire infrastructure of the Spanish state railway Renfe, which was previously managed by the Gestor de Infraestructuras Ferroviarias (GIF).

Railway infrastructure network

In preparation for the competition on the track, the track and station management from the state railway company Renfe was spun off and transferred to an independent organization. The Renfe is now on only a pure transport companies, so that competitors can act independently and the State Railway of a possible privatization is able to generate profits.

At the end of 2012 was the network of ADIF 13.945km of which 2.183km high-speed network to standard gauge, 11.623km conventional Spanish broad gauge network and 139km narrow gauge or mixed network. In addition, 1,566 were passenger train stations, with 18 new buildings from the years 2005 to 2011 for the high-speed network; furthermore operates Adif a number of cargo handling facilities.

End of 2012, thirteen companies had the necessary licenses to operate as a railway company in the rail freight transport, one of which could but only eight show the necessary safety certification: Renfe Operadora, Comsa Rail Transport, Continental Rail, Acciona Rail Services, TRACCION Rail, Activa Rail (daughter of Transfesa ) Logitren Ferroviaria and Ferrovial Railway. With a vehicle of the 330 series, the company has its own track and Oberleitungsmesszug for high-speed traffic.
