Adina Izarra

Adina Izarra (* 1959 in Caracas ) is a Venezuelan composer.

Life

Izarra studied in Caracas at the Conservatorio Nacional de Musica Juan José Landaeta and Alfredo Del Mónaco and was until 1989 composition student of Vic Hoyland at the University of York. She teaches at the Universidad Simón Bolívar in Caracas.

It was four times awarded the National Prize for Composition (1984, 1985, 1990 and 1991) and was three times the representative of Venezuela at the International Society of Contemporary Music. From 1999 to 2001 she was a member of the Executive Committee of the Company. In 2002 she became a member of the Colegio de Compositores Latinoamericanos de Música de Arte.
