Adligenswil

Adligenswil ( in local dialect: [ ˌ ɑdligəʃʋi ː l] / [ ˌ ɑdligənsʋi ː l], short [ ɑdligə (n)] ) is a municipality in the constituency Lucerne Land of the canton of Lucerne in Switzerland.

Geography

Adligenswil is a scattered settlement, located to the east of the city of Lucerne on the north side of the Würzenbachtals. The wort stream flows three kilometers to the southwest in the Lake Lucerne. To the west, the municipality is drained to the hand, showed out. The main settlement Adligenswil is located in a valley between the Dietschiberg and the Dottenberg, Stuben is located on the western boundary of the municipality and Dottenberg on the slope of the hill. The village is located outside the major traffic routes, but the center of the city of Lucerne is by bus or car in 15 minutes.

The highest point of the municipality is located on the Dottenberg to 750 m above sea level, the lowest on Würzenbach to 459 m asl

From the municipality is 54.5 % of agricultural land, 24.3% forest and woodland and 19.5 % settlement area. Neighboring municipalities are Dierikon in the north, Udligenswil in the northeast, Küssnacht in the east, in the south Meggen, Lucerne in the southwest and Ebikon in the northwest.

History

The place was first mentioned in documents as Adelgeswiler in 1243. The place name is composed of the personal names ahd Adalgis and the frequent ups at Alamannic hindlimb - wīlāri to designate new Hofsiedlungen.

Until the 13th century Adligenswil stand as the next area of Lucerne under the care of the pin Lucerne and the Alsatian monastery Murbach. In 1291 Lucerne fell to the Habsburgs. The Grange Adligenswil was sold in 1291 by the monastery Murbach of Habsburg and acquired 1395/1406 of Lucerne. In the period between the Battle of Morgarten ( 1315) and the Battle of Sempach ( 1386 ) of the Habsburg influence declined gradually. 1406 Lucerne acquired the lordship of the Bailiwick of Habsburg, to which also belonged Adligenswil. 1861 Adligenswil became a separate parish.

Population

From 1798 to 1970, the population grew slowly from 433 to 953 inhabitants and Adligenswil so preserved the character of a rural farming village. Beginning of the 1970s began the first construction activity, which from 1975 onwards more and more intensified. The end of 2009 the community numbered 5474 inhabitants. Of these, 4950 Swiss nationals and 524 ( = 9:57 %) of foreign origin. With its approximately 5,500 inhabitants Adligenswil is manageable and has retained the rural charm. People know each other and maintain contact with each other. Typical of the village are the numerous housing estates with no through traffic. Thanks to its location away from the major traffic routes and the city enjoys close Adligenswil great popularity as a residential community.

Until well into the 20th century in Adligenswil an exclusively Roman Catholic population was located. In the census in 2000 were still 64.29 % to the Roman Catholic Church. Religious minorities are the 19,98 % Evangelical Reformed Christians, Muslims 1.82% and 9.66% unchurched.

In the last elections to the cantonal parliament (2011), the parties reached the following percentage of voters: SVP 21.0%, CVP 18.0%, SP 18.0%, FDP 17.6 %, Greens 13.3%, glp 9.6% and other parties 2.6%.

Economy

The share of employment in agriculture has declined sharply in recent decades. Agriculture provides only 6.2 % of the workforce in 19 farms a professional existence. Significant today are industrial and commercial with 51.2 % and the services sector with 42.1 % of the working population. The largest employers are the printing company Ringier and the market research DemoSCOPE. In total there are 2,730 jobs in Adligenswil. Nevertheless, the commuter balance falls with 1'933 Wegpendlern (of which 51.8 % in the city of Lucerne ) and only 897 Zupendlern (mostly from the neighboring communities ) negatively.

Traffic

Adligenswil is accessible through the mail car line between Lucerne and Red Cross as well as the VBL bus line 26 ( Brüelstrasse Lucerne Adligenswil ). The nearest motorway connections are located in Emmen, root and Lucerne. The motorway connection Rontal ( Ebikon ) is under construction.

Education

In Adligenswil visited ( school year 2007 /2008) 70 children, the four kindergarten classes in Sigristenhaus (2 ), Village and Chriesibüel. The school houses Village, Kehlhof and Obmatt offered 465 primary students and 250 high school students an educational opportunity. For the visit of secondary schools and the university students commute to the neighboring town of Lucerne.

Attractions

The 1825-1827 Built by the brothers Josef and Franz Händli Church of St. Martin with classicist altars and a choir from the Biedermeier and the 1863 built by Wilhelm Keller neo-gothic chapel of St. Jost (St. Jodokus ) with altar paintings by Melchior Paul von Deschwanden are the main attractions. These various farmhouses come on Dottenberg whose architecture is of national importance.
