ADO Den Haag

ADO Den Haag is the name of the professional football club of the city of The Hague in the Netherlands. The abbreviation stands ADO ( German: "All through practice " ) for " all Oefening Door ". Many fans continue to use the old club name FC Den Haag. The club colors are green and yellow. The club crest is the stork, which occurs also in The Hague city arms.

History

The club was founded on 1 February 1905. The former club colors were made up of green, red and white together. This changed, however, in the course of time, again and again. In the 1950s the team wore white pants and red shirts that were verzetzt with a green V. The included Stork Club logo, the relationship with the city of The Hague dar. Also this has the bird as an emblem. In the early years the club had little financial support. Football was often only addition to sports and had not yet present value. 1912 was the annexation to the NBI, the predecessor of the KNVB. At this time the club was mediocre and could win this league for the first time in 1914.

1926 ADO had the opportunity to play first class. For qualifying matches against DHC Delft and Ajax athletes combination were necessary. Here, the club won the day and from then on played in the highest Dutch league. The Hague, where it was difficult and was mostly found in the lower table region. At the end of the 1930s, however, a good competitive team developed. When there were no professional football in the Netherlands, the club was twice national champion in 1942 and 1943.

1967, ADO Den Haag as San Francisco Golden Gate Gales in the championship of the then official Football Association of the United States, the United Soccer Association and took part in the Western Division second place among six participants. The Gales wore the home games at Candlestick Park.

On July 1, 1971, merged with the Department of Professional Sports The Hague Holland, and called himself temporarily FC Den Haag ADO to come to the name HFC ADO Den Haag on the name FC Den Haag ( 1976) ( 1996). In the 1960s and 1970s, The Hague was one of the strongest teams in the Netherlands. In the 1960s, the national team Lex Schoenmaker was active there.
