Adolf Brudes

Adolf Brudes (* October 15, 1899 in United Kottulin, Upper Silesia, † November 5, 1986 in Bremen), often incorrectly referred to as Adolf Brudes of Breslau, was a German motorcycle and car racers.

Career

Brudes began his career in motorcycle racing because 1924-1927 was the master mechanic works driver in Victoria in Nuremberg. From 1928 he took part in car races and started in the 1930s on Bugatti. Brudes was involved, among others, the success of BMW in the Mille Miglia in 1940 when he finished in third place on the BMW 328 MM Roadster ( prototype) along with his partner Ralph Roese in the overall standings.

After the Second World War Brudes first started on Veritas and then for the various brands of Borgward as record-breaking race driver. In 1951, he took on a Goliath race car 38 world records. In 1952 he presented together with Hans- Hugo Hartmann on the track of Linas- Monthléry internationally recognized records in the class up to 1.5 l (including 100 km with an average speed of 215.5 km / h ). In the same year he completed the Grand Prix of Germany his only start in the automobile and drivers' world championship, but had to retire from the race due to engine failure.

In the first 1000 km race at the Nürburgring in 1953 Brudes started with the Borg Ward No. 37, but had the car early on Bechem / Helfrich leave after they had failed to No. 38 in the first round.
