Adolf, Count Palatine of the Rhine

Adolf von der Pfalz ( born September 27, 1300 Wolfratshausen; † January 29, 1327 in Neustadt on the Wine Route ), called " the honest man ", in office from 1319 until his death formally as Count Palatine of the Rhine. The actual governance exercised his uncle Ludwig ( IV ).

Adolf was the son of Rudolf I of the Palatinate, and his wife Matilda (1280-1323), daughter of King Adolf of Nassau.

In 1320 he married Irmengard von Oettingen († 1389 ). The couple resided under the suzerainty of Emperor Louis IV in Heidelberg, but moved around 1326 to Oggersheim back. It was here that Count Palatine Adolf build the destroyed by fire community again, surrounded with Wall or ditch and raised them to the city. Already in January 1327 died Count Palatine in Neustadt on the Wine Route, and was buried in the Cistercian monastery of Schoenau near Heidelberg.

His wife Irmengard pulled even in death Adolf year with their children in the monastery at Worms Liebenau back to where they came 20 years later, as a Dominican.
