Adolf Kainz

Adolf " Adi " Kainz ( born June 5, 1903 in Linz, † July 12, 1948 ) was an Austrian canoeist.

Life

The trained goldsmith Kainz was one of 17 children of a Linzer gardener. Once out of the dreamed-of career nothing was as a motorcycle rider, he was only 26 years for the first time in a kayak. He soon found with Alfons Dorfner a partner, with whom he recorded the training.

By some success in international regattas they secured the Olympic qualification. At the Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936 they succeeded with a brilliant finish victory in the kayak competition two above 1000 m ( with a record margin of more than 5 seconds) on a Breinbauer kayak.

Kainz career was abruptly interrupted by the Second World War. Later he took while training again, but died suddenly in 1948. Linz In Today a street name, the Kainzweg to the Olympic champion.
