Adolf of Nassau (1362-1420)

Adolf of Nassau- Dillenburg (* 1362, † June 12, 1420 ) was in the years 1416-1420 Count of Nassau - Dillenburg.

Life

Adolf was the son of Count John I, Count of Nassau- Dillenburg from the House of Nassau and Margaretha von der Mark.

Since his father was already 77 years old at his death in 1416, was Adolf when he took his heir already 54 years old, for that time so already at an advanced age. In fact, he ruled himself only 4 years before he died, and since he left only a daughter himself, his younger brother Engelbert I became his successor.

Adolf married in 1384 in first marriage of Judith Dietz and later his second wife Gwendolyn of Limburg. By his first marriage he brought the County of Diez in his possession, which was confirmed by King Wenceslas in 1384 in a deed of gift.

His daughter Jutta († 1424) married in 1401 Godfried VII of Eppenstein coins Berg ( 1375-1437 ).
