Adolf Pohl

Adolf Joseph Pohl (* April 27, 1872 in Vienna, † July 25, 1930 in Bad German -Altenburg ) was an Austrian sculptor and craftsman.

Life

Pohl was a pupil of the Vienna School of Applied Arts, after which he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts under Edmund von Hellmer and Caspar von Zumbusch. In his career, Pohl worked mainly on modern commodities we vases, candlesticks, trays and mirrors in bronze, which he always produced these works of art in various materials. His works have been exhibited in the Vienna Künstlerhaus, Prague, St. Petersburg, Moscow and Berlin. For his work he was awarded in Paris in 1900 with a bronze medal.

During World War II he was one-year volunteer soldier in the Military Police Battalion 21 of the imperial army. On 13 June 1916, the academic sculptor sought to join the art group of kuk War press neighborhood of. He justified his inclusion among others with its membership in the Association of the Artists Vienna and referred also to his famous teacher. His application for admission has not been granted.
