Adolf Prokop

Adolf Prokop ( born February 2, 1939 in Old book) is a former German football referee.

Between 1958 and 1988 he served as a referee for the German Football Association of the GDR and was 1969-1988 to 283 point game matches in the top division of the German Democratic Republic, the big leagues. From 1973 to 1988 he was on the FIFA list of referees and completed in this area 87 referee inserts (27 matches, 60 European Cup games).

As an internationally recognized and one of the most successful German FIFA referee, he participated in the FIFA World Cup in Argentina in 1978, in Spain in 1982, at the European Football Championship 1980 in Italy and 1984 in France, and the Summer Olympic Games in Montreal 1976 part.

He led three finals of the European club competitions between major teams of the time. Under his leadership, the European Supercup final ( 1) stood in 1979 between Nottingham Forest and FC Barcelona ( 1-0), the UEFA Cup final ( 1) 1981 between Ipswich Town and AZ Alkmaar (3-0 ) and 1984, the final of the European Cup Winners' Cup, which Juventus won against FC Porto in Basel 2-1.

The national football sometimes doubt as to his neutrality emerged. As an officer on special assignment from the Ministry of State Security, he was put in a budget for there dominating BFC Dynamo partisanship during his time as a referee of the DDR Oberliga.

Adolf Prokop lives in Erfurt. He is a member of the referee committee of the Thuringian Football Association, referee observer and is often asked yet to celebrities games as referee.
