Adolf Riedl

Adolf Riedl (* February 2, 1921; † 6 September 2003) was a German entrepreneur.

After expulsion from the Sudetenland and Russian captivity Riedl founded in the postwar period with his sister Marianne Sommerer in Untersteinach a company for the production of knitwear and knitted fabrics Riedl Group, which has its focus in the field of sports clothing. On 31 August 1947, he founded the Adolf Riedl GmbH & Co. KG and 1975 Aritex GmbH as distributor of sports and leisure modes. In 1980, he placed the Sunflair brand. 1983, registered for 75 years branded "Olympia" was purchased.

Riedl promoted several sports and clubs, especially in Bayreuth, which he 1981, the Medal of the City of Bayreuth was awarded in silver. Him the Distinguished Service Cross was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany 1996.

After a stroke in January 1989 withdrew Adolf Riedl from the company and also largely out of public life.

On 1 August 2004, the group was renamed Riedl. The previous company Sunflair, Opera, Olympia, and Sunmarin now function as trademarks of Adolf Riedl GmbH & Co. KG.
