Adolf Rieger

Adolf Rieger ( born August 25, 1899 in Berlin, † June 12, 1956 ) was a successful wrestler in the light heavyweight and heavyweight class in Greco-Roman wrestling and Olympic athlete

Career

He was first a member of the SC Heros Berlin, SpVgg East Berlin and founded in 1931 the Berlin KV 1931, for which he struggled to the end of the 1930s.

In 1924 he became German champion in the heavyweight division against European champion Ferdinand must, Horde (Dortmund ) and August Köstner, Bamberg. In 1926 he represented Germany in an international match against Denmark and was defeated by Einar Hansen. In 1927 he won the German championship title at light heavyweight against European champion Robert Rupp, Mannheim and Emil Poganiatz, Pirmasens. Counter Rupp 1928 he won the ' qualification for the Olympic Games 1928 ' in Amsterdam. Such attendance was the highlight of his sporting career. He defeated Einar Hansen, Denmark, Gaupseth, Norway, Otto Pohla, Estonia, Appels, Belgium and Galuszka, Poland, before the final against Ibrahim Moustapha, Egypt, was defeated. Thus he won the ' Silver Medal ' before Onni Pellinen, Finland.

In the following years he showed his best performances mostly in the team fighting for his BKV, but was against the strong German competition like Rupp, Paul Böhmer, Reichenhall, Anton Vogedes, Dortmund, Erich Siebert, Mainz and Werner soul ties, Berlin, no longer prevail.
