Adolf Scherer

Adolf Scherer ( born May 5, 1938 in Vrútky ) is a former Czechoslovak football player Carpathian German origin.

Scherer was in the 1950s and 1960s, to the best strikers in the Czechoslovakia, was outstanding especially his shooting technique.

He started at Lokomotíva Vrútky. In 1957 he went to Cervena hviezda Bratislava, with whom he was in 1959 Czechoslovak football champions. 1961/62 he was top scorer with 24 goals. At the World Cup in Chile in 1962, when Czechoslovakia became Vice World Champion, Scherer scored three goals in six games, he met, among others, in the quarter and semifinal. In 1965 he moved to Lokomotíva Košice, 1967, VSS Košice.

In 1969 he was given the opportunity to move abroad and went to Nîmes Olympique. After four years he returned to Czechoslovakia and played for Strojárne Martin. There, however, he thought it was only half a year. From Nimes Olympique, he was invited in 1973 to a Exhibitionsspiel and then stayed in France. 1975 ended Scherer at Olympique Avignon his career. In Czechoslovak league Scherer scored 128 goals. Because of his emigration he was ignored by the communist regime, its performance remained unappreciated.

For the Czechoslovak national hit " Dolfi " in 36 games 22 times.
