Adolfo de la Parra

Adolfo " Fito " de la Parra ( born February 8, 1946 in Mexico City) is a Mexican drummer who is best known as a member of the blues-rock band Canned Heat.

Life

Even as a child he played in many local bands as a drummer and then climbed in the " Los Sinners ", he has performed with, among others, in the Mexican television. Mid -1960s traveled the whole band illegally in the United States and was reported again after just a few performances.

By his marriage with a young American, Sonja, to de La Parra allowed to emigrate to Los Angeles, where he Canned Heat saw playing in Topanga Corral soon after, he knew their drummer Frank Cook heard of before, and he had invited him to the gig to look at. Since Frank Cook's drumming the band was too close to the Jazz, they replaced him in late 1967 by de la Parra, with whom she then among other things occurred at the Woodstock festival. After the death of Bob Hite 1981 de la Parra took over the band and passes it to this day. Currently, the band is back in the Woodstock cast with Harvey Mandel and Larry Taylor on tour. 2011 published the revised version of his biography that he had now been supplemented by the years 2000-2010.
