Adolfo Farsari

Adolfo Farsari ( born February 11, 1841 in Vicenza, Italy, † February 7, 1898, ibid ) was an Italian photographer who worked in Yokohama.

Life and work

His designs included primarily people, landscapes and buildings typical of Japanese architecture. He colored the first monochrome photos laboriously by hand. Farsari took significant influence on the subsequent development of photography in Japan.
