Adolfo Franci

Adolfo Franci ( born November 27, 1895 in Florence, Tuscany, † January 31, 1954 in Rome, Lazio) was an Italian screenwriter who was nominated once for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and the Nastro d' Argento once the Sindacato Nazionale Giornalisti Cinematografici Italiani ( SNGCI ) won.

Life

Franci 1942 worked as a scriptwriter for the first time with Vittorio De Sica together, namely in the comedy film Un garibaldino al convento with Leonardo Cortese, María Mercader and Carla Del Poggio. He wrote the screenplays to 1953 for thirteen films.

At the Academy Awards in 1948 he was with Sergio Amidei, Cesare Giulio Viola and Cesare Zavattini nominated for an Oscar for best original screenplay for the staged also by De Sica movie shoeshine ( Sciuscià, 1946) in which Franco Interlenghi, Rinaldo Smordoni and Emilio Cigoli the leading roles played.

1949 won Franci along with Cesare Zavattini, Vittorio De Sica, Suso Cecchi D' Amico, Oreste Biancoli and Gerardo Guerrieri that of the Sindacato Nazionale Giornalisti Cinematografici Italiani ( SNGCI ) awarded Silver Ribbon for best screenplay ( Nastro d' Argento alla migliore sceneggiatura ), namely for the re- directed by De Sica neorealist film Bicycle Thieves ( Ladri di biciclette, 1948) with Lamberto Maggiorani, Enzo Staiola and Lianella Carell.
