Ādolfs Bļodnieks

Ādolfs Bļodnieks (born 25 Julijul / August 6 1889greg Tukums, .. † March 21, 1962 in Brooklyn, New York) was Latvian politician and Minister President of the Party of Smallholders ( Jaunsaimnieku partija ).

Life

Career

After school education and a degree, he was inspector in the Ministry of Finance in May 1919. Later he was from December 1923 to November 1931 and again in June 1932 Member of the Board, and from November 1931 to June 1932 and from June 1932 to March 1933 Deputy President of the Latvian National Bank.

Member of Parliament

However, already before he began his political career. He was a member of the Latvian People's Council ( Tautas padome ), who declared the independence of Latvia on 18 November 1918. He was then in April 1920 ( sapulce Satversmes ) for the Members of the Constituent Assembly. In October 1925, he ( Saeima ) was then elected as Members of Parliament, in which he represented then until May 1934, the interests of the Party of Smallholders ( Jaunsaimnieku partija ). At times, he was also secretary of the Saeima and Chairman of the Party of Smallholders.

Prime Minister from 1933 to 1934

On 24 March 1933 he was elected to succeed Marģers Skujenieks prime minister. He was the first and only Prime Minister who belonged to the Jaunsaimnieku partija. On March 16, 1934, he was then replaced by Karlis Ulmanis, who established an authoritarian regime, following a coup on 15 May.

Then he drew largely withdrew from politics. However, he was in November 1947 the signatories of an appeal to the Chairman of the UN General Oswaldo Aranha.
