Style

Skultes musical language based on the music of romance, but also shows influences of the music of Impressionism. It is clearly marked by nationalism, whereby southern Italian influences are heard. Characteristic are an epic to lyric tenor and the predominance of melodic invention. Skulte pleaded for tonal and always used lush timbres. It was based on socialist realism and created music full of optimism and pathos. The choice of subjects is often time-based. In particular, he emerged as a composer of orchestral and choral works.
