Adolphe Appian

Adolphe Appian (* 1819 in Lyon, † 1898) was a French landscape painter and etcher.

Life

He was a pupil of Camille Corot and Charles -François Daubigny, painted on the banks of the Rhone and Southern France moods of poetic effect, sometimes in a bluish, slightly cheesy flavor.

Works (selection)

Among his works are exhibited paintings in 1868: Gloomy weather, the cliff, the Bois des Roches, The banks of the Furon in October and the two charcoal drawings: Environments of Rochefort and swamp of Virieu le Grand. Several of his etchings appeared in the collections of the Society of the eraser.
