Adriaan van Dis

Adriaan van Dis (* 1946 in Bergen ( Netherlands )) ( ABK: DIS) is a Dutch writer.

His parents were active in Indonesia, before they came back to the Netherlands. After his studies of Dutch at the University of Amsterdam and Afrikaans in South Africa, has decided that this van for writing, after detours on the anti - apartheid movement and literary journalism ( NRC Handelsblad and Zaterdag Bijvoegsel ). His first work, Nathan Sid appeared in 1983. He was 2008 participants of the International Literature Festival in Berlin. One of his texts is Africa. He has won multiple literary awards. His works in German language are usually translated by Marlene Müller- Haas. Occasionally van Dis published articles in daily journals, such as the occasion of the throne waiver of Queen Beatrix.
