Adrian Fenty

Adrian Malik Fenty ( born December 6, 1970 in Washington, DC ) is an American politician of the Democratic Party. Between 2 January 2007 and January 2, 2011, he assumed the office of Mayor of the capital city Washington.

Life

Adrian Fenty grew up in the Washington District Mount Pleasant. He studied at Oberlin College English and economics, then law at Howard University, where he graduated as a Juris Doctor.

At the time of taking office as mayor of Washington on January 2, 2007, he was 36 years old and making her the youngest person ever elected to this office as well as the second youngest man in the United States who has ever held the office of the mayor of a big city.

In April 2010, Fenty announced his intention to apply again in the elections in November of the same year to the office of mayor. In the Primary his party, which the Federal District almost anticipates the actual choice given the weakness of the Republicans, however, he only came to 46 percent of the vote and defeated so that Vincent C. Gray, Chairman of the City Council of Washington, which came to 53 percent. Fenty was then offered by the Republicans to pursue a write-in candidacy, rejected this possibility back but instead supported and Gray, who clearly won in the election with 70 percent. Around 20 percent of the votes accounted for Fenty, who was grudge as a write -in candidate by the voters on the ballot.

Fenty is married and has two children. He is a member of the African American fraternity Kappa Alpha Psi.
