Cenaclul " Flacara "

Adrian Păunescu founded in 1973 the literary circle "flame" (Romanian Cenaclul " Flacara " ), a cultural movement, in which a mix of literary readings and musical performances talented young people were able to present their works. The event, which can be seen as the Romanian equivalent of the October Club, found at the beginning of the Ion Creangă Theatre in Bucharest instead, but quickly developed into a mass phenomenon with great appeal. Cenaclul " Flacara " toured the country and has appeared in more and bigger venues, most recently in football stadiums. In open auditions for new talents were recruited continuously. The events developed into ecstatic collective happenings that could take four to six hours. In songs and poems with mainly patriotic and nationalistic tenor were Romania, its history, praised his heroes and thinkers. Charismatic focus of the event was Păunescu who had a permanent place on the podium, there was reciting his poems and texts read to the fans. From 1973 until the last event in 1985 took place 1,615 performances. Many still successful artists have worked with, including Mircea Vintilă, Doru Stănculescu, Ştefan Hruşcă and Anda Călugăreanu. The 1982 released triple LP " Cenaclul Flacara în concert" was a bestseller.

Although " Flacara " always remained conform to the system and followed the nationalist Romanian state propaganda of the era Ceauşescu, it was the communist state power because of its uncontrollable dynamics, the non-conformist appearance of its artists and the charismatic effect Păunescus an eyesore. The 1983 produced by the Romanian state film company documentary film " Cenaclul Flacara - Te salut, generatie în blugi " ( " I greet you, Generation in Blue Jeans " ) fell victim to censorship. In the summer of 1985 was Cenaclul " Flacara " banned forever. Occasion was a guest at the stadium in Ploieşti, in which there had been a stampede involving multiple fatalities.

In 1990, after the turn, Păunescu came with the literary circle " Totuşi iubirea " ( "Still Love" ) a new edition of the event having a similar basic concept and numerous performances in Romania, as well as in Chisinau in Bessarabia.
