Adrian Smith (politician)

Adrian M. Smith ( born December 19, 1970 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska ) is an American politician ( Republican). Since 2007 he represents the third electoral district of the state of Nebraska in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Adrian Smith attended until 1989, the Gering High School and studied at Liberty University in Lynchburg (Virginia) thereafter. In 1993 he finished his studies with his graduation from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He then worked as a private businessman and as a teacher. Between 1994 and 1998 he was on the City Council of Gering and between 1999 and 2007 he was a member of the Nebraska Legislature to. He was chairman of several committees.

In 2006, Smith was elected with 55 % of the vote in the third district of Nebraska in the U.S. House of Representatives. There he stepped on 3 January 2007 in the footsteps of Tom Osborne. Two years later he was even confirmed with 77 % of the vote to Democrat Jay Stoddard. His current term in Congress ends on January 3, 2011. Smith is considered to be very conservative. He is a member of the Agriculture Committee, the committee that deals with the natural resources of the country, as well as the technology and science committee.
