Adrien Rommel

Adrien Gery drum ( * August 4, 1914 in Paris, † June 21, 1963 in Clichy ) was a French fencer who won two Olympic gold medals and three world championship titles.

Rommel fought for the Racing Club de France in Paris. When in 1947 in Lisbon, the first World Championships were held after World War II, Rommel was part of the French team and won along with Jehan Buhan, André Bonin, René Bougnol and Christian d' Oriola the title in the foil team standings. At the 1948 Olympic Games in London, the team with André Bonin, René Bougnol, Jehan Buhan, Jacques Lataste, Christian d' Oriola and Adrien Rommel won the gold medal ahead of the Italians, in the single won Buhan Christian d' Oriola before.

1949 won drum with the foil team as well as World Championship silver in the following year at the World Championship in Monte Carlo. 1951 in Stockholm he won together with René Bougnol, Jehan Buhan, Christian d' Oriola, Jacques Lataste and Claude Netter in the foil team competition. Also at the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki won the French team, along with Jehan Buhan, Jacques Lataste, Claude Netter, Jacques Noël d' Oriola won and Christian Rommel in the team competition and won his second Olympic gold medal. In the World Fencing Championships 1953 in Brussels Rommel won after 1947 and 1951, his third team gold at the World Championships along with Claude Bancilhon, Christian d' Oriola, Jacques Lataste, Claude Cute and Jacques Noel. His last international medal winning drum at the World Fencing Championships in 1954, when he was defeated in the finals along with Claude Bancilhon, René Cintrat, Roger Closset, Christian d' Oriola and Claude Netter against the Italians and once again received the silver medal.
