Adrienne Ames

Adrienne Ames (born 3 August 1907 in Fort Worth, Texas, † May 31, 1947 in New York; actually Adrienne Ruth McClure ) was an American film actress.

Life

Ames was the daughter of Samuel Hugh McClure and Flora Parthenia McClure in Fort Worth, Texas. There she attended together with her ​​sister, the actress Gladys Ethel McClure (aka Linda Marsh ), the Tenth Ward School. At the age of 16, she married her first husband, Stephen Ames, from whose marriage comes a daughter. After her divorce, she moved to Beverly Hills, California, where she was discovered by a talent scout from Paramount; they immediately signed a contract to have participated in an audition without ever. At that time she lived with her ​​sister, who had followed her.

Ames film career began in 1927 as a stand- in for Pola Negri in the silent film Hotel Lviv (English Hotel Imperial ); minor roles in silent films followed. With the invention of sound film their popularity grew and they often impersonated women of society and starred in musicals. In the 1930s she starred in 30 films.
