Adro

Adro is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 7089 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Brescia, in Lombardy. The community is located about 24 kilometers northwest of Brescia, about 23 kilometers southeast of Bergamo and about 62 km east-northeast of Milan in Franciacorta. It is 6 kilometers from the Lake Iseo.

History

Archaeological excavations in the district Torbiato point to a settlement in the Neolithic period. Erstmalxs is documented in Adro (as Atro ) 822, the castle is built between the 13th and 14th centuries. From 1426 to 1797 Adro is part of the Republic of Venice. Since 1928 Torbiato is part of the community.

Traffic

Together with the district Borgonato the neighboring municipality of Corte Franca is a station on the railway line Cremona Iseo.
