Advance-Rumely

Advance - Rumely was a manufacturer of first steam-powered tractors and other agricultural equipment, especially Drescher, in La Porte, United States. It was founded in the 19th century as a foundry by the immigrant from Alsace Meinrad Rumely and his brother John Rumely and later continued by Meinrad's son, Dr. Edward Rumely. → Alexander Wuertenberger

1910, the company launched a large tractor driven by internal combustion engine on the market. This OilPull called tractor was operated with kerosene and had a characteristic oil cooler on the front axle. He was chosen for its strength very successful. In 1911, the two companies Gaar -Scott and Advance Thresher Company were taken over. In 1923, the competitor Aultman -Taylor was acquired.

Towards the end of the 1920s, the demand was always greater for smaller tractors. Rumely therefore acquired the rights to the 1927 Toro Motor Cultivator from Toro and marketed it in 1929 under the name DoAll. Since this tractor could not sell as well, Rumely tried to build the 6A and the IdealPull which also could not be as good as the old OilPulls sell. After a failed attempt to export to Russia the company in 1931 by Allis -Chalmers was bought. The production of Advance - Rumely tractors was set then.
