Advanced SCSI Programming Interface

The Advanced SCSI Programming Interface ( ASPI ) is an interface for communication between the software and the operating system and DVD / CD - ROM drives. Unlike the name suggests, ASPI drivers are needed not only for SCSI devices, but also for devices with ATA, ATAPI, USB and FireWire interfaces.

ASPI drivers, also called ASPI layer, are offered by different manufacturers, the most famous is the implementation of Adaptec. Also burning programs like Nero bring an ASPI driver. Microsoft equipped Windows 9x and ME from it. However, no ASPI driver more were included with Windows NT, 2000, XP and Windows Server 2003. Installation

Adaptec describes the installation of the various Windows versions in the archives offered for download. After the installation script under Windows XP was carried out as specified, the supplied tool aspichk.exe the ASPI installation attested, however, still error.
