Adventure Construction Set

Adventure Construction Set (ACS ) is a computer program for creating adventure games in the style of adventure game Ultima. The program was written by Stuart Smith and published by Electronic Arts in 1985. The game was produced by Don Daglow, the graphics came from Connie Goldman, the music was written by Dave Warhol. At the beginning of the game for the Commodore 64 and the Apple II home computer was developed and later versions for the Amiga (1986) and for DOS (1987 ) emerged.

The program was based on the concept of Pinball Construction Set (PCS ), which was also released in 1983 by Electronic Arts. The program consisted of a graphical editor for the creation of the Adventure game maps, the placement of enemies and other objects and events. After completion of Adventures, the author was able to save the game so that the game even without the Adventure Construction Set was playable and could be easily distributed to friends.

The ACS was a complete adventure, Rivers of Light, delivered, which was comparable with adventure games on the market at that time. Furthermore, the program package Example Adventures were at that showed the scope of the program.

The program was one of the greatest successes of Electronic Arts in 1985 and was awarded an SPA Gold Disk Award.
