Adventureland (Film)

Adventureland is an American tragicomedy from 2009 by Greg Mottola.

Action

Summer 1987: James Brennan has just graduated from Oberlin College. At the end of the closing ceremony makes his girlfriend break up with him - in the opinion of his friends because he has revealed to her that he is still a virgin. His parents can not pay him the completion donated trip to Europe because his father had to accept a lower paying job. Due to job changes his parents training at Columbia University can not pay him also. James moved with his parents to and starts looking for a job, and finally, set in Adventureland, a local amusement park in his hometown of Pittsburgh, where he oversees one of the stalls. James dissatisfaction with his low-paid work only changes when he meets his new colleague Emily " Em " Lewin, who invites him to a party. She was formerly with Mike Connell, a part-time musician and employee James' together.

Take a drink at a bar the next day James Em accidentally confesses his virginity what Em is cute. Riverside they kiss for the first time. James Connell told the next day by his feelings for Em, whereupon wants to separate the couple. He brings James to go out with a colleague, and insecure Em in terms of her relationship with James. Both find each other again, as James Em saves her from an angry customer. James reported Em of his brief relationship with his female colleague while Em conceals him their ongoing relationship with Mike. He finds out about it through a third party and separates from Em, which then goes to New York City, where he studied at NYU.

Almost too late James recognizes that everything was foul play by Mike. He goes to New York to find Em. Both reconcile and James loses his virginity at the end.

Background

Adventureland was filmed in 2007 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Most scenes were shot in Kennywood, a historic amusement park near West Mifflin, Pennsylvania. The amusement park in the film based on the Adventureland, an amusement park in Farmingdale, New York, where director Greg Mottola has worked in the 1980s.

Trivia

In the film, listen to Falco's Rock Me Amadeus number 1 hit. James complains in the film that they allegedly play the song 20 times a day.
