Adiyaman ( kurd. Semsur, in ancient times Perrhe or Pordonnium ) is the capital of the Turkish province of Adiyaman. The population of the city of Adiyaman is 202 735, which of the county 262 349 (as of 2010 ).

The city's history goes back a very long time. In ancient times the place as Perrhe (Greek: Περρη ) was known. Perrhe is now in Örenli district. After the Islamic conquest in the 8th century the place was called Hisn Mansur ( Castle of Mansur ). Mansur 'm Cavana († 758 ) was the commander of the Muslims. Today's Turkish name Adiyaman is attested since the 17th century.
