Aeaea

Aeaea or Aeaea (Greek Αἰαία or Αἶα ) is a mythical place in the geography of Greece, of which the name was derived as a nickname for Αἰαιαη Kirke.

In the Odyssey Aeaea is a wooded island in the West, where the sorceress Circe lives with those animals in which it transforms almost all visitors. The village lies there on the ocean, so make outside of the Mediterranean. Also in the Argonautica it is in the West.

Previously, the island in the possession of Chryses, the Golden, the father of Minyas and ancestors of Phrixus should have been.

With the name Aia a city in the east is called the river Phasis, where Aeetes, son of Helios reigned. Here was the forest in which the Golden Fleece was suspended. They situate the land of Aeetes in Colchis.
