AEG B.II

The AEG B. II was a two-seat unarmed reconnaissance aircraft and the successor of AEG BI It came out late 1914. The B. II was a zweistieliger ( its predecessor was dreisielig ) biplane with a Mercedes D.II inline engine. The cell consisted of a canvas -covered frame of wood and tubular steel.

Although the B. II should represent an improved version of its predecessor BI, but the main weaknesses, namely the unfavorable mounted engine and also aerodynamically unhappy mounted condenser were not eliminated.

Thus, the model from the Air Force was only used in small numbers in the years 1914 to 1915 and its slow speed and lack of armor meant that the aircraft was soon decommissioned.

Its successor was the AEG B. III.
