Description

Vegetative characteristics

Aeonium leucoblepharum grows as a perennial, densely branched shrub, reaching heights of growth of up to 2 meters. The bare, smooth, ascending or decumbent - ascending shoots have a diameter of from 7 to 20 millimeters. Their flattened in the center of rosette reach a diameter of 10 to 20 centimeters. The inverted lanceolate or obovate - spateligen, yellowish green to dark green, almost leafless leaves are 5 to 12 centimeters long, 1.5 to 3.5 inches wide and 0.2 to 0.5 inches thick. Towards the peak, they are pointed. The base is wedge-shaped. The leaf margin is occupied with straight or curved eyelashes, which are 0.4 to 1 inches long. The leaves are variegat reddish usually along the edge.

Generative features

EI - up dome-shaped inflorescence has a length of 8 to 18 centimeters and a width of 8 to 15 centimeters. The peduncle is 3-15 inches long. The seven-to zehnzähligen flowers are at a 1-6 mm long, slightly downy hairy flower stalk. Their sepals are sparse weakly pubescent. The yellow, sometimes red variegaten, elliptical or lanceolate, bluntly rounded petals are 6-8 mm long and 1.8 to 2.5 millimeters wide. The stamens are glabrous to sparsely pubescent weak.

Systematics and distribution

Aeonium leucoblepharum is widespread in Yemen, Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya and Uganda at altitudes of about 2,000 to 3,500 meters.

The first description by Achille Richard was released in 1848.
